Texas based high-end tuners, Hennessey Performance has increased the performance of the LS9 powered Chevy Camaro, dubbed the HPE700. This Rally Yellow color is sure to be a head turner, and the performance numbers are just as eye-popping. This is the second Chevy Camaro HPE700 to be released by the tuning company, the first was a Cyber Gray Metallic finish with blue stripes unveiled at last year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Besides the flashy body styling and bright paint, the custom pony car boasts the supercharged LS9 engine, capable of producing 705 hp and 717 lb-ft of torque.

A new front splitter is found under the front bumper, along with the same graphic elements as the original Chevy Camaro HPE700, just with a different color combination. The Rally Yellow paint and black stripes match the black wheels with chrome lip well if you want your Camaro to stand out from the crowd. The sports car also received 15-inch carbon brakes from the Chevy Corvette ZR1, and a nicely shaped Hennessey Performance aero kit.

The 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week will host the world premiere of the Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept car handing us our first look at the next-generation Aveo that will be sold on both sides of the pond competing with superminis like the Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris.

Longer, wider and more spacious than the current production Aveo, the five-door concept adopts several styling cues including the dual element grille, round tail lamps and fender flares from other Chevrolet models such as the Spark and Cruze.

Being an RS version, the concept model sports several unique features like the 19-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels that cover the large Boracay Blue brake calipers, a roof spoiler, a specific front bumper with large air vents, exposed motorcycle-inspired rear taillamps that feature tinted aluminum housings and a rear diffuser with a center-mounted exhaust and chrome exhaust tips.

Though virtually production ready, the concept model’s interior has been adorned in leather with contrasting blue stitching, special decorative trim and a pair of sport front seats.

Under the hood, the Aveo RS houses the same 138-horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four Ecotec engine that will be available in the upcoming Chevrolet Cruze. Power is transfered to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Needless to say, the series production model will be far less aggressive in the details inside and out, though there is a chance that we might see a similarly styled and powered sporty RS model added in the Aveo’s range.

GM said that the production Aveo will be manufactured at its Orion Assembly in Orion Township, Michigan starting from 2011.

Danz Custom Description of the Camaro:

“This is a 1969 Danz Camaro SS concept car. I built the car in 2006. In 2006 the new Camaro was just a concept with no definite plans to go to production. I took a real 1969 Camaro and modified it to look somewhat like the 2006 concept Camaro.

Thinking that I would have the only one in the world if the Camaro never went to production. I combined the original 69 Camaro design with the 2006 concept Camaro design, with my own designs. Especially the hood scoop and rear spoiler design are my own. I gave GM pictures of my car in Jan 2007.

It appears that the 2010 SLP Camaro has a simular designed hood scoop and rear spoiler to my car. To power my car I went with a 427 small block with the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram manifold and carbs. I went in that direction because I wanted the legendary 427 cubic inch and also to use the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram. Backed with a 700 r transmission to a Ford 9″ differential. GM’s Chevrolet division will be taking the wraps off a total of five 2010 Camaro concept cars today at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The prototypes include the Jay Leno special that comes with a 425HP twin-turbocharged V6; the Camaro Synergy that previews a new green finish that will be offered on a limited edition version in 2010; the Camaro Chroma and Dusk that are fitted with a combination of current and not-yet-released accessories and finally Camaro Graphics that highlights six proposed accessory graphics packages for future production. The Jay Leno Camaro

Powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.6L direct injected V-6 that is standard in Camaro LS and LT models, Leno’s Camaro blends high performance with surprising efficiency in a racing-ready package. A pair of Turbonetics T-3 turbochargers blows through a custom air-to-air intercooler, force-feeding the engine about seven pounds of boost and lifting its horsepower level to about 425. That’s about 40 percent greater than stock and in normal driving (when the turbochargers aren’t making boost), there’s virtually no penalty in fuel economy over the non-turbocharged 3.6L engine.

“Jay’s Camaro offers style, performance and efficiency in a big way,” said Dewar. “It delivers the power of a Camaro SS on demand, but with the fuel economy of a V-6.”

Supporting upgrades for the turbo system include a larger-capacity Be-Kool radiator and a custom exhaust system, as well as a Centerforce-supplied clutch and pressure plate for the six-speed manual transmission. The tubing for the turbo system is powder-coated blue. The powertrain was designed to deliver consistent, controllable power for both the street and race track. In fact, road racing was a primary mission for the car during its development.

Additional vehicle also support its racing intent:

• Brembo six-piston brake package
• Pedders coil-over lowering kit
• New front fascia with custom fog lamps and integral brake cooling vents
• Air extractor-style hood

The exterior styling of Leno’s car is the most radical of all the Camaro concepts at SEMA. The front fascia and hood are one-off creations, as are the unique upper and lower grilles and the ground effects package (including a rear diffuser). The heritage-inspired vent styling in front of the rear wheels has been replaced with functional brake cooling ducts.

Camaro Synergy

The Camaro Synergy concept previews a new Synergy Green production exterior color that will be offered on a special-edition Camaro in the first half of 2010. It also features a host of the latest Camaro accessories offered through Chevy dealers. They dramatically enhance the performance appearance of the car, demonstrating the personalization possibilities open to Camaro owners. Designers took liberties with the accessories, creating a totally unique package. Details include:

• 21-inch wheels, with a black center finish and polished rim
• Ground effects kit
• Cyber Grey Rally hood stripes
• High wing rear spoiler (future accessory)
• Performance air intake

The ground effects include pronounced rocker moldings, a rear diffuser-type styling piece and a front spoiler. They, along with the rear wing spoiler and rally stripes, are finished in the production Cyber Grey color, although the ground effects and spoiler can be painted to match the exterior of the car. The Rally stripes are adhesive-backed and are offered in grey, black or white. They’re part of a broader range of heritage-inspired graphics that also include “hockey stick” stripes for the front fenders.

Chevy designers further enhanced the concept with a Pedders coil-over lowering kit and a set of large, Brembo brakes, as well as color-coordinating the Jet Black interior with Synergy Green accent stitching, piping and other accents. The lowering kit, brakes and interior accents are not among the accessories offered for the Camaro, but represent common and popular aftermarket upgrades. Chevrolet will gauge public interest in the features for possible inclusion in future accessory offerings.

Camaro Chroma

It looks like the custom creation of a tuner shop, but the Camaro Chroma simply demonstrates how carefully selected accessories available through Chevy dealers can create a look like nothing else. The Camaro Chroma is based on an SS/RS model in Summit White and uses a combination of current and not-yet-released components, including:

• A new silver stripe package
• 21-inch wheels (future product, with silver-painted spoke centers and a Victory Red stripe)
• “Blade” rear spoiler (future product)
• Summit White ground effects package
• Rear fender vent graphics
• Accessory front grille with body-color outer frame (future accessory)

“With its silver graphics on the Summit White paint, this car has a tailored, tone-on-tone appearance that is simultaneously racy and subdued,” said Todd Parker, design manager, GM Accessory Studio. “It is a sophisticated-looking car that is easily duplicated by any customer, because all of the parts are available to build it.”

From a performance standpoint, the Camaro Chroma’s standard LS3 V-8 engine is equipped with current accessories, including a performance intake, shorty headers and performance exhaust system. There’s also a Victory Red engine cover and a Hurst short-throw shifter for the six-speed manual transmission, as well as red-painted Brembo brake calipers.

Inside, the black-and-grey leather seats feature red accent stitching, as do the shifter boot, floor mats and door trim. Accessory inserts for the dashboard and door panels (in silver) are also included as available accessories.

“What’s great about the Camaro Chroma is it speaks to the almost unlimited possibilities that the accessories offer,” said Parker. “You can build your Camaro mild or wild, but build it your way.”

Camaro Dusk

Inspired by the style of young, urban professionals, the Camaro Dusk concept rolls with a contemporary tuner aesthetic. It is understatedly aggressive looking, with a lowered ride height, new 21-inch wheels, the rear spoiler from an SS model and a custom ground effects package.

“This is a car with an international flair, bringing the Camaro to a place it hasn’t traditionally been,” said Parker. “It is a very tailored look that is stylish and sophisticated, but with a distinct American accent.”

The ground effects package includes a racing-inspired front splitter, rocker extensions and a rear diffuser. They are prototype parts that may enter production as dealer-available accessories at a later date; the same goes for the 21-inch wheels from BBS. Many of the details, such as the taillamp and fog lamp bezels, match the finish of the wheels, lending a more premium look to the car.

The Camaro Dusk’s body is painted Berlin Blue, while the ground effects are painted a contrasting color. Additional performance items include the exhaust system and Brembo brakes from a Camaro SS (with painted calipers). The interior is trimmed in stylish Jet Black and Sedona, with complementing features including footwell lighting, premium door sill plates and other details.

Today’s young professionals expect advanced technology and premium audio options and this concept delivers with a crisp, well-tuned Boston Acoustics sound system, WiFi connectivity and a convenient cradle for an iPhone.

Camaro Graphics

Camaro designers dreamed up half a dozen proposals for accessory graphics packages, with the intent of soliciting feedback from Camaro enthusiasts for possible production. Chevrolet then launched the graphics campaign in mid-October, asking Camaro fans on Facebook to pick their favorite design.

The top four designs were produced and brought to the SEMA Convention, where a Silver Ice Metallic Camaro will wear each contender on a different day. At the conclusion of the convention, after thousands of enthusiasts see the graphics on the car in person and on Facebook, another round of voting will occur. The top vote-getter will be considered for future production.

“Camaro has thousands of fans on the various social media sites and this is a great way to demonstrate that Chevrolet is connected to our customers,” said Dewar. “With so many great designs to choose from, we’re sure the voting will be close, but whatever the outcome, the real winners will be the customers who personalize their Camaro with the winning graphics package.”

The Camaro Graphics display vehicle will be located prominently in the GM display during the SEMA Convention, starting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009. At the close of the convention each day, the graphics package will be changed.

The legendary Yenko nameplate will find its way on a Chevy Camaro once again as the brand’s new owner, General Marketing Capital Incorporated (GMCI), will present its official 2010 Yenko Camaro Prototype to the public at the annual SEMA Trade Show in Las Vegas in November. Using a 2010 Camaro SS, the prototype will feature a ‘Phase I’ supercharged V8 engine with 600 horsepower coupled to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox.

Additional Yenko branded upgrades to the prototype Camaro include a Hurst short throw shifter, 6-piston big brake package and Magnaflow high-flow cat-back exhaust system.

In terms of looks, the Camaro gets the Yenko stripe package, official emblems and badging, retro-styled 22-inch billet aluminum wheels, a leather interior package with Yenko Super Car (sYc) embroidered headrests, sill plates and Yenko/SC embroidered floor mats.

The San Diego Comic-Con, a comic book and popular arts convention, saw the release of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition model. But despite the buzz, the real-life Bumblebee is a huge letdown as the Transformers edition is virtually nothing more than a simple logo package. Forget about the Z28 bumper and hood treatment or the unique alloy wheels used on Bumblebee in the Transformers movie.

What supposedly makes this Camaro special are the Transformer and Autobot logos on the side panels, the wheel center caps, the sill plates, the center console and on the black rally stripes.

Not surprisingly, the New GM claims that the Transformers edition is as special as the movie car. “When the first TRANSFORMERS movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the ‘BUMBLEBEE’ Camaro,” said Karen Rafferty, product marketing director, Chevrolet. “Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time.”

If you’re still interested, the Transformers kits is priced at $995 and it’s offered on the LT V6 and the SS V8 Camaros in Rally Yellow with or without the RS package.

GM has announced that the Chevy Camaro convertible and the Chevy Camaro Z28 will both be delayed indefinitely. A company executive has cited a few different reasons for the indefinite delays in an interview with TheDetroitBureau.com.

Problems with the Camaro Convertible began with the demise of the German supplier picked to build the car’s top. Camaro line exec Gene Stefanyshyn said, “We’re looking to find an alternative source for the top.” Unfortunately, he continued, even if a new parts company was found quickly it would still take months for that company to ready production. The delay means the convertible might not be ready for well over a year, if it comes out at all.

The Chevy Camaro Z28 would cost about $50 million in development and production before it would wind up on showroom floors. Even though the 570 hp car would probably sell well, $50 mil is not something readily available in the GM company coffers these days. “It would cost too much,” said Stefanyshyn. This is not necessarily the death knell for the Z28. GM would like to eventually bring the car to market, but not before getting into better financial shape.

A lot of people have been waiting for YEARS for this information, so we’re not going to waste your time with a long, drawn-out introduction. Chevrolet is sending the cars to dealerships, and we’ve got preliminary performance and fuel economy figures for the 2010 Camaro.

When equipped with the 3.6 liter direct-injection V6 (standard in the Camaro LT and LS), the rear-drive Camaro is rated at 18/29 with the automatic transmission. The six-speed manual gives up just one mpg in the city. Opt for the 6.2 liter V8-powered Camaro SS and its 400-horse L99 (automatic) or 426-horse LS3 (manual), and you’ll get 16/25 or 16/24 economy, respectively. Neither figure will win you any efficiency awards, but the environmentalists won’t be coming for your Camaro with torches, either. GM says the Camaro bests the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger when it comes to fuel economy, in any case.

It’s got what it takes to best them on the track as well, with Autoblog reporting an unofficial 4.7-second 0-60 run for the Camaro SS. Chevy reportedly already has over 14,000 orders on the books for its resurrected pony car, which started production yesterday.

Another one bites the dust; this time General Motors has decided to place on indefinite hold its previously announced plan to add the highly anticipated, all-new Duramax 4.5-liter V8 diesel engine in 2010 to its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty trucks. “We remain optimistic that the Duramax 4.5L V-8 diesel may be a viable option in its future portfolio,” said the company in a statement.

For the time being -and who knows for how long- Chevrolet and GMC will continue to offer a Duramax 6.6-liter V-8 diesel in their heavy duty pickup trucks. Recently, GM launched 2-Mode hybrid versions of the Silverado and Sierra that received an EPA estimate of 21mpg in the city and 22mpg on the highway (2WD versions). With the new 4.5-liter V8 diesel, it was estimated that the trucks would have achieved a fuel economy in the high 20s mpg.
