It was accomplished with the addition of a cold air induction system, smaller supercharger pulley, new engine management system, longer headers, 3-inch exhaust system, high-flow cats, upgraded intercooler, and more aggressive camshafts. GM’s premium brand released a teaser photo of the new concept model but is keeping everything else, including the name, a secret.

There’s not much we can tell from the picture other than that the concept appears to follow the brand’s most recent design language but if we were to play the guessing game, our vote would go to either Cadillac’s planned BMW 3-Series rival, the ATS sedan or a preview of the STS’s successor.

The ATS, which was confirmed earlier this year, will be positioned under the CTS in Cadillac’s range and be offered with rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. Given that the larger CTS starts from around $37,000 in the US, the new four-door sedan should have a base price closer to $30,000.

Also making its world premiere in Detroit is the new 2011 CTS-V Coupe. The most powerful version of the new CTS Coupe, which was revealed at the L.A. auto show in November, will get the same 556-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8 coupled to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission found in the CTS-V Sedan.

Powered by the factory 6.2-liter V8 engine, the new Cadillac received a larger turbo, intercooler, and increases in boost pressure. With all the work under the hood, GeigerCars was able to pull fantastic numbers showing 619 hp at 5,900 rpm, and 850 Nm of torque at only 4,000 rpm. This rocket-like Cadillac CTS-V reached a top speed of 330 km/h with shortened fifth and sixth gears coming from GeigerCars. The tuning company didn’t release the acceleration times yet, but with those figures it’s definitely one of the faster Cadillacs to date.

New to the European market, the Cadillac CTS-V received a black wheel package to match the paint and give an extra sports feel. Underneath, the car has been fitted with an optimized chassis for a perfect balance between comfort and high speed traveling. The Cadillac CTS-V is now available in Europe from GeigerCars, priced at 84,900 euro. That is a 10,500 euro difference from the factory pricing, which isn’t too much considering the performance upgrades.

GM President and CEO Fritz Henderson confirmed today that Cadillac is developing 10 new models through 2011 including an entry-level luxury sports sedan that will compete against the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 sedans in the segment below the CTS. The announcement was part of a general relaunch of GM that will present a total of 25 new models from now until the end of 2011.

Back to Cadillac’s 3-Series rival, GM said that the new sedan that will be offered with high-tech engines, rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive will take on the best in the segment.

“We are determined to repeat what CTS has already achieved in design, quality, driving dynamics, performance and fuel economy to grow our presence in this high-volume and highly competitive segment,” Henderson said.

Aside from the new entry level sedan and the already revealed SRX compact crossover and the CTS Sport Wagon, Henderson confirmed that the firm will introduce the production version of the CTS Coupe concept which will be offered in a “V” guise boasting the same 556HP 6.2-liter supercharged V8 as the CTS-V Sedan.

Automotive News also reported that Cadillac’s plans include a common replacement for the flagship rear-wheel drive STS and front-wheel drive DTS models that will share its underpinnings with the Buick LaCrosse and be offered with all-wheel drive. For the record, GM did not disclose any details on this vehicle.
