Volkswagen’s “mini-me Golf”, the fifth-generation Polo, has won the coveted ‘Car of the Year’ award for 2010 with 347 points against 337 for the Toyota iQ mini which came in second. The new Opel / Vauxhall Astra, which was considered by many a favorite to snatch the award and continue General Motors’ success with the Insignia that won the 2009 title, finished in third place receiving 221 points.

Well, it was about time; Ford has finally decided to equip its base Mustang with a modern V6 engine to compete against GM’s ‘been there, done that’ 2010 Camaro V6. In particular, Ford will replace the 2010MY’s obsolete 4.0-liter V6 with its comical output of 210HP and 240 lb-ft of torque with an all-aluminum Duratec 3.7-liter DOHC Ti-VCT V6 that delivers 305 horsepower and 280 ft.-lb.

In what could be one of the weirdest project cars we’ve ever shown you on Carscoop, this here is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS that has been modified to resemble GM’s 2006 Camaro Concept which previewed the 2010 production car. Ironically, the styling of both the concept and production versions of the new Camaros are heavily based on the 1969 model… More photos and the creator’s description of the car after the jump.

The Belgian tuner Caractere has released a new styling kit for the sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf. Clearly inspired by VW’s 2006 IROC Concept car that previewed the Scirocco Coupe, the styling package comprises of a new front bumper with a characteristic grille surround, chunky side skirts, a large roof spoiler and a rear apron with an integrated diffuser and a two-pipe exhaust unit.

Joining the insane 827HP Porsche 911 GT2 Speed at Wimmer RS’s booth at the 2009 Essen Motor Show is the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, a subtly tuned version of the F430 Spider model. Performance modifications include a power pack that comprises of an upgraded ECU and a hand-built, sport exhaust system featuring remote controlled valves that allow the driver to choose between a nearly stock and racing note from the quad tail pipes.

Volkswagen Group tuning specialist ABT has set its eyes on the new Golf GTD offering a range of power and styling treatments. The GTD’s 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine receives a 20-pony and 40 Nm increase to 190-horsepower and 390 Nm (288 lb-ft) of maximum torque trimming 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration from 8.1 seconds to 7.1 seconds – always according to ABT. Top speed increases from 222 km/h to 230 km/h (143mph).

Dutch supercar maker Cars N.V. announced today that it is planning to move its manufacturing base from Zeewolde in Holland to its main supplier, CPP, located in Coventry, UK, before the end of the year. The company said that the decision to relocate its vehicle assembly was made to reduce production costs since more than half of the vehicle parts and components are sourced from the UK.

The 2010 model year brings new standard features and slightly higher prices for three out of four models in the Nissan Cube range. All models (Base, S, SL and Krom Edition), are powered by a 122HP 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that can be linked to either Nissan’s Xtronic CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission. The starting MSRP, which doesn’t include applicable tax, title and license fees, has remained unchanged from 2009 at $13,990 for the 1.8 Base model.
