After the SpecV, Nissan appears to be planning yet another limited edition version of its GT-R supercar called the SpecM that is said to make its world debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show at the end of October. Rendered here by the folks over at Japan’s Carmode magazine, the SpecM seems to be fitted with the same aero kit and forged alloy wheels (albeit in silver) as the SpecV. Then again, the lack of official photos could mean that the magazine’s artist simply color-chopped a GT-R to visualize the cover story…

Land Rover officially confirmed today that it will build a production version of the LRX concept. In spite of the fact that the prototype model made its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show with the Land Rover badge, the production LRX will bear the Range Rover logo making it the smallest model in the luxury brand’s line-up. The three-door crossover will debut in production form next year to mark the 40th anniversary from the launch of the first Range Rover in 1970, and go on sale in 2011.

Exploiting a moniker that’s usually held for race- or rally-bred sport cars such as our beloved Delta Integrale, Fiat introduced a mildly facelifted version of the Grande Punto in Frankfurt. To be known from now on as the Punto Evo, the Italian supermini gains a restyled front-end with a new bumper design that brings it closer to the 500 along with tweaked front and rear light clusters as well as a reworked rear bumper. These changes “stretched” the car’s length to 4,060mm, while all other external dimensions remain the same.

While all eyes were (and continue to be, for that matter) focused on the Frankfurt Show premieres, Mitsubishi quietly took the wraps off its gently refreshed Outlander in China. As you can see from these photos that come to us from China’s Auto.sohu, just like the Outlander GT Prototype that was displayed at the New York Show this past April, the 2010 model year Outlander obtains a more aggresive fascia with some heavy Lancer influence in that ‘jet-fighter’ grille.

Joining the Coupe Concept at MINI’s Frankfurt motor show stand is the Roadster Concept, a two-seater speedster with a steeply raked windscreen and a more aggressive stance than your ‘everyday’ four-seater MINI Convertible – though admittedly, an untrained eye may have to look twice to make sure that it’s a “different” model. Compared to the coupe, the loss of the controversially styled aluminum top adds some styling points to the Roadster but other than a few other minor cosmetic details, the two models are identical.

While the Japanese market 2010 CR-V facelift isn’t due to be revealed until September 17, Honda’s European division surprised us today with the unveiling of the domestic market model that’s set to go on sale from January 2010. In addition to the gentle cosmetic facelift, the European-spec CR-V that is built in the UK also benefits from a cleaner and more powerful 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine that can now be coupled to a new automatic transmission.

We were hoping that Alfa Romeo would introduce the production version of the 240hp MiTo GTA concept at the Frankfurt show but the Italians decided to start off with something a little less spicy in the form the sporty Quadrifoglio Verde model. The “four-leaf clover” MiTo is powered by Alfa’s revolutionary new 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine that cranks out 170HP or 15 more ponies than the turbo engine of the 1.4L TBi model.

Having recently formed its own independent automotive division, the British maker of the iconic F1 (1993-1998) and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (2003-2008) has finally revealed its first supercar, the McLaren MP4-12C. The two-seater mid-engine model has been developed in-house, meaning that it features no carryover parts from any other car, and will be produced by McLaren in the UK with sales expected to begin in early 2011.

This month’s Frankfurt Motor Show will see BMW launching a special edition version of the M6 coupe called Competition that will be produced in a limited run of just 100 units. While the M6′s 507 horsepower V10 engine remains intact, the engineers over at BMW’s M division tweaked the Competition model’s suspension with new springs, dampers and stabilisers as well as lowering the coupe’s ride height by 12mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear.

You probably know by now that we really dig Porsche’s latest creation, the special edition 911 Sport Classic that packs some really neat retro styling cues such as the Fuchs alloys, the woven leather interior and of course, the ducktail rear spoiler that harks back to the legendary Carrera RS of the ’70s.
